We are always amazed at the deer here on Padre Island. There are so many of them and their behavior is a bit different from whitetails in other places we have been. These deer will be seen out in the surf ! The Rangers tell us that they are getting rid of their fleas when they are out in the salt water.
As we wander about the beaches of this marvelous island paradise we are constantly seeing either the deer or their tracks. It is strange to us to see a set of deer tracks disappear out into the gulf of Mexico ! We can be many miles down the beach with no one else in sight and suddenly some deer will come out of the dunes, wade out into the surf, splash around for a bit, then disappear back into the dunes.
